Unfortunately, they lost in a battle again as the government rejected their P125 wage hike demand and gave them P22 COLA or “cost of living allowance.”

SkyCable is committed to comply with the must-carry rule of the National Telecommunications Commission. However, the current channel capacity of SkyCable is full; hence, we are unable to immediately accommodate carrying Aksyon TV and comply with this policy.

We are working on increasing channel capacity which may take some time due to dependencies on the technical end.

Nasaan Ka Elisa? premieres in March 21 on ABS-CBN's afternoon block!

After its phenomenal success in Puerto Rico and USA, and other parts of the world, controversial family drama“¿Dónde Está Elisa?” now hits the pearl of the orient, as ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ largest multimedia conglomerate, proudly brings its much-awaited Philippine TV adaptation, Nasaan Ka Elisa?

“¿Dónde Está Elisa?” first conquered the international TV scene when US-based television giant Telemundo remade it last year. From then on, a lot of countries across the world have aired this mystery drama. These countries include Venezuela, Georgia, Spain, Croatia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru, Mexico, Lithuania, Poland, Iran and Romania. “¿Dónde Está Elisa?” will soon dominate Bulgaria, Serbia and Slovakia.

Now, ABS-CBN takes pride in offering the purely Pinoy adaptation of the hit Hispanic drama through Nasaan Ka Elisa? This time, it’s Melissa Ricks’ turn to be the “Desaparacidos,” giving every Filipino an exciting afternoon leisure. Her co-actors possess the same high-spirit in the challenge of portraying the telenovela’s most daring roles. Distinguished directors Richard Arellano and Jerome Pobocan lead the pack as the directors of this revolutionary drama that is sure to hit Philippines’ afternoon TV block.

The story revolves around lives of the Altamira clan whose lives changed when Elisa (Melissa Ricks), the oldest daughter of Mariano Altamira (Albert Martinez) and Dana Altamira (Agot Isidro), disappears. From the day she’s gone, secrets of every family member and friends; the paranoias start, histories from the past, themes that were supposed to be buried, gradually unfold. Then the recriminations among family members start. In the midst of family conflicts many suspects come to light, among them family members—Elisa's parents, uncles, cousins, fellow students, former and present Altamira employees, as well as friends that used to go to the same places that Elisa would frequent.

Join the whole nation in looking for the “Desaparecidos.” Catch Nasaan Ka Elisa? premiering on March 21 on ABS-CBN. For more details visit www.abs-cbn.com.

Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 opens on February 26!

A blind girl playing the piano, brothers tapdancing on regular leather shoes, a girl circling hoola hoops simultaneously around her body, and a brass band composed of 70 members altogether on one stage.

These are only some of the acts to watch out for as Pinoys once again show the world what they’ve got in the highly-anticipated second season of the biggest nationwide talent-reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” premiering this Saturday (Feb 26) on ABS-CBN.

The search is on once more for that world-class act worthy of winning the P2 million cash prize and getting that once-in-a-lifetime shot at stardom just like PGT season one grand winner Jovit Baldivino, who is now living the dream and making a mark in the industry with his music.

As PGT returns on air, so are its wacky hosts Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford’s who are both very excited to get back on stage and do the show all over again.

“I am extremely happy. We all know how much people supported the first season so it’s a good feeling doing the same thing all over with Billy boy,” said Luis.

Big 3 judges Queen of all Media Kris Aquino, Comedy Concert Queen Ai Ai Delas Alas, and former ABS-CBN President Freddie M. Garcia a.k.a. FMG are also back to decide who makes the cut and who among the acts deserve to be in the grand finals.

When asked what advice they can give to season two hopefuls, Kris said “This is a God-given chance. It’s a chance to perform for the entire nation. Ibigay mo na ang lahat dahil minsan lang dumadating ang ganito kalaking oportunidad.”

“Mataas ang pressure ngayon dahil dapat kabugin niya ang season one. Kung dati binuhay niyo ang katawang lupa ko, ngayon mas buhayin niyo pa ang kaluluwa ko,” added Ai Ai.

FMG also encouraged hopefuls to be braver and bolder than ever and prove that they are truly the best as he expects the competition to be on the next level this time around. “Mas technical ang judging ngayon. It’s a totally different show because it’s a variety show. You really don’t know what to expect. I think that is the beauty of PGT.”

“Pilipinas Got Talent” is indeed one of the most successful and most watched talent-reality show on Philippine TV that catapulted its first ever grand winner Jovit to stardom. Since he won June last year, Jovit already released two albums under Star Records, the first one hitting the Platinum record mark, and was able to stage his first major concert at the Music Museum.

More doors also opened for other PGT season one grand finalists who are also doing well on their respective fields.

Don’t miss the much-awaited return of “Pilipinas Got Talent” this Saturday (Feb 26) and Sunday (Feb 27), 8:45 PM on ABS-CBN.

Venus Raj and Iya Villania joins Umagang Kay Ganda

It’s only been days since Miss Universe 2010 4th runner up Venus Raj started hosting ABS-CBN’s morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” but it seems that the beauty queen has already gotten the hang of her new job.

“I was so excited during my first day that I had to sleep early so that I would also wake up early. I’m used to it now. I sleep around 8 pm or 9 pm and wake up at around 3 am,” said Venus.

Venus is tasked to deliver daily showbiz news in the said morning show and just recently she already started going to barangays for the segment “Barangay Bida” where they will feature model communities.

“We will show why a certain barangay is considered a ‘bida’ be it in relation to the environment or the way they run things in their community. We will get barangays that have made a mark or achieved something in order to inspire other barangays,” Venus explained.

Meanwhile, new host Iya Villania is also as excited as Venus especially after learning that she will be hosting segments such as “Youth Tube,” where the talked videos online will be showcased.

“That’s why is easier for me to adjust because I can just be myself. I am personally into online videos, gadgets, and technology so I feel comfortable with the segments given to me. It’s also a plus that I am working with people who I really look up to like Ms. Donita Rose who served as my inspiration why I pursued being a VJ,” shared Iya.

The sexy half-Aussie host-actress also added that she didn’t think twice when hosting UKG was offered to her.

“I know that I will learn a lot from this show, being updated with the news and all. Besides, I am a morning person so waking up very early wouldn’t be a problem for me so I gave it a go,” she said.

Aside from hosting Studio 23’s “Us Girls,” and serving as a VJ for music channel MYX, Iya can also be seen weeknights in the hottest series on primetime, “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine.”

If Iya can juggle both hosting and acting, Venus is also willing to venture into the latter. The Bicolana beauty earlier said she wants to be paired with Coco Martin and the ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual.

Even though Piolo already admitted that he and KC Concepcion are together, Venus still admires the actor.

“I am happy for them and my admiration for Piolo will of course continue. It will not fade just because he already has a girlfriend. Besides, my crush on him wouldn’t reach the point that I would actually want to be married to him (laughs),” she cleared.

If ever Coco guests on UKG, is Venus ready for him? “Of course! I am excited to meet Coco,” she said giggling.

UKG is definitely bigger and better this time around with new segments you will surely watch out for every morning.

Pinky Webb brings you videos from concerned citizens in “Webb Report.”

Donita Rose, on the other hand, will teach young moms practical art works and crafts they can do right at their very homes in “Do It Youself.”

Meanwhile, Winnie Cordero and Alex Santos guide consumers and parents in the Consumer, Parenting, and Relationship segment.

In 2010, UKG received recognitions from several prestigious award giving bodies. It won Best Morning Show and Best Morning Show Hosts in the 24th PMPC Star Awards and 8th Gawad Tanglaw. It bagged the Best Morning Show in the UP Gandingan and won an Anak TV Seal for Most Admired Program.

Join Anthony Taberna, Pinky Webb, Alex Santos, Winnie Cordero, Phoemela Barranda, Andrei Felix, Iya Villania, and Venus Raj in the new “Umagang Kay Ganda,” 5:30 AM, Mondays to Fridays on ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN launches "Krusada" with veteran journalists on Dec 9!

The crusade of the Filipino for the Filipino is about to begin.

From ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, comes a program with the courage to take a stand and fight for change in the country— “Krusada.”

This Thursday (Dec 9) after “Bandila,” “Krusada” will start acting on and responding to the biggest and most pressing issues in each sector of society, spearheaded by the best and veteran journalists of ABS-CBN such as Ted Failon, Ces Drilon, Henry Omaga-Diaz, Lynda Jumilla, Gus Abelgas, Dyan Castillejo, Karen Davila, Julius Babao, and Noli “Kabayan” De Castro.

“We don't effect change with words alone. Sometimes, we have to take a stand. ABS-CBN journalists are ready to become true agents of change and it is through ‘Krusada’ that they can push for their own advocacies for the Filipino people,” said ABS-CBN Head for News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes.

This is why in the first airing of “Krusada,” Ces Drilon will tackle an issue that is especially close to her heart—the issue on reproductive health. Drilon visited Fabella Hospital, a hospital in Manila renowned for delivering babies. Here she met Aling Zeny who has given birth to her tenth child. Zeny said that she didn’t want another child after their last. However, they had no access to contraceptives.

Drilon also went to Baseco, Manila where she met Evelyn who was pregnant with her eighth child. The mother doubts as to whether they can still send their children to college. Meanwhile, another mother, Marissa is pregnant with her seventh child and plans to have her child adopted the moment she gives birth.

Their different narratives show the need for a more effective and comprehensive family planning program. A reproductive health program that will protect the women and the children is Drilon’s crusade for the country.

Advocacy journalism that gives a clear standpoint and concrete action—this is what “Krusada” is all about. Because true public service is propelled by action, not merely words.

Watch out for the airing of “Krusada” this Thursday night (Dec 9), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.

Julius Babao and Karen Davilla to join Ces Oreña-Drilon on Bandila beginning Nov 22!

ABS-CBN bolsters its late night newscast “Bandila” by bringing together multi-awarded broadcast journalists Ces Oreña Drilon, Julius Babao, and Karen Davila to deliver the nation's biggest news and stories beginning Monday (Nov 22).

Babao and Davila’s addition to the program also marks the dawn of a new and more interactive “Bandila,” wherein viewers are given a chance to air their reactions to every news item.

Through the official pages of “Bandila” on Facebook and Twitter, and the three anchors’ personal accounts, people may send in their comments while the newscast is going on. After each report, Drilon, Babao, and Davila will read some of the entries live on air.

“Bandila” executive producer Paul Henson said this is another way to empower Filipinos, aside from encouraging them to report to the award-winning “Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” citizen journalism campaign.

“We want our viewers to have a platform where they can immediately express themselves, where they feel empowered to take part not just in the discussion but in finding solutions to the issue at hand,” he said.

Known as “working journalists,” Drilon, Babao, and Davila have established their credibility in the industry with news reports and stories they themselves have pursued, written, and produced.

Drilon has long juggled anchoring and reporting duties from her stint in “The World Tonight” in the early nineties up to the present day as one of the original anchors of “Bandila.” People turned to her for information in critical news events such as the Manila Peninsula Siege in 2007, where she was among the few journalists whose lives were put in danger.
Drilon is also the anchor of current affairs gems like “Pipol,” “The Correspondents,” and “I Survived.”

Like Ces, Davila is a former anchor of “The Correspondents,” the news documentary program that has won her awards from UNICEF Child Rights Awards (2005), Asian TV Awards (2006), and New York TV and Film Festivals (2004 and 2007). Davila was also named Broadcast Journalist of the Year by the Rotary Club of Manila in 2004 and one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men in 2008.

Davila also won Best Female TV Newscaster in the recent 2010 PMPC Star Awards, while Babao took home the trophy in the male category for the third straight year. Babao also anchors a radio program in DZMM and the investigative program “XXX,” where he personally joins authorities in surveillance and raids to show his commitment to the resolution of the problems raised to them.

“Bandila” itself has gained numerous recognitions and/or nominations from award-giving bodies like Golden Dove Awards, Star Awards, Asian TV Awards, and the International Emmys.

With decades of experience and a bundle of awards among them, Drilon, Babao, and Davila are expected to bring depth and savvy to “Bandila” and also increase viewer participation through their use of social media within the program.

Be part of history as it unfolds. Join Ces Oreña Drilon, Julius Babao, and Karen Davila from Monday to Friday, after “SNN” on “Bandila.” Take part in the newscast by sending your comments and reactions to the official Facebook and Twitter pages of “Bandila” and official accounts of the three anchors.

Noli de Castro, Korina Sanchez and Ted Failon anchors TV Patrol beginning Nov 8

For the first time, three respected news icons in Philippine broadcast journalism are joining forces to strengthen “TV Patrol,” ABS-CBN’s flagship newscast and the leading news program in the country for the past 23 years.

Starting Monday (Nov 8), Korina Sanchez and Noli “Kabayan” De Castro will return to television to join Ted Failon in "TV Patrol" to form the most tried and tested news team ever assembled in the history of Philippine broadcasting.

The powerhouse team, all seasoned and working broadcast journalists, is collaborating to present news that matter to Filipinos all over the world and to give back to their kapamilya viewers by strengthening the public service commitment of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, the country's most credible news organization based on a recent study by Pulse Asia.

Failon, in his 27 years in the industry, is the “Sandigan ng Bayan” for his commitment and focus on issues up to their resolution. Sanchez, on the other hand, is the intelligent and brave “Kakampi ng Bayan,” who has reported on the biggest news in the country since she started in ABS-CBN in 1986. She also holds the distinction of being the first female main anchor of “TV Patrol.”

De Castro, "Kabayan ng Pilipino,” returns with a wider knowledge of the workings of government after his stint as vice president of the Philippines. He started making a name on radio during the Martial Law years. Kabayan is also the original anchor of “TV Patrol,” and the hard-hitting investigative show, "Magandang Gabi Bayan."

“TV Patrol” is the country's number one primetime newscast in the country with an average rating of 32.6% in September beating GMA's "24 Oras," according to Kantar Media.  When it comes to news, most Filipinos say ABS-CBN is the most credible TV network in the country as seen in the results of a Pulse Asia nationwide survey. 72% of the Filipinos believe ABS-CBN gave the most credible TV news coverage of the May 2010 elections, higher than GMA, which had only 63% believing in its credibility, and TV 5’s 32%.

In line with this development, the Kapamilya network is also beefing up its late night newscast “Bandila,” and has offered ABS-CBN news veterans Julius Babao and Karen Davila to join Ces Drilon as anchors.

Drilon, Babao, and Davila will provide deeper analysis and extended coverage of the day’s biggest news in “Bandila.”

For news that matters to every Filipino, tune in to the newscasts that stand by the truth and the good of the people. Watch Ted Failon, Korina Sanchez, and Noli De Castro in “TV Patrol," on primetime nights, as well as Ces Orena Drilon, Julius Babao, and Karen Davila in “Bandila” late evening, from Mondays to Fridays in ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN formally jumpstarts its Christmas campaign with President Noynoy Aquino as the guest of honor in the blessing and dedication of the ELJ Communications Center and the launch of its Christmas campaign with a station ID to be aired during “TV Patrol” on Nov 4 (Thurs).

Coming from last year’s phenomenal and award-winning “Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko,” ABS-CBN newest station music video dubbed as “Ngayong Pasko, Magniningning ang Pilipino” will once again kindle the light of unity and honor Filipinos’ commitment to change.

On the same day, ABS-CBN executives, employees, and guests from the government, private sector, and the media will celebrate the 82nd birth anniversary of its late chairman Geny “Kapitan” Lopez and recognize the winners in this year’s Bayaning Pilipino Awards.

Other activities lined-up for the Christmas campaign this year will include the Kapamilya Simbang Gabi, the selling of the Kapamilya Parol, holding of Christmas bazaars, staging of Christmas special at the Araneta Coliseum, and launching viewers text promo.

Puno, Marco Sison, Rey Valera,Nonoy Zuñiga, Valerie Concepcion, Gee Canlas and Janelle Jamer.

ABS-CBN also dedicates this year’s Christmas Station ID to all those who continue to bring pride and honor to our country with their world-class talents and skills, like Journey frontman Arnel Pineda and international pop star Charice.

The theme song “Ngayong Pasko, Magniningning ang Pilipino” sung by Gary Valenciano and Toni Gonzaga, features the University of Santo Tomas Singers conducted by Prof. Fidel G. Calalang Jr. This year alone, the world-renowned group won 10 grand prizes from musical competitions in Poland, Spain and Northern Ireland, including the Choir of the World – Luciano Pavarotti Trophy at the 63rd Llangollen International Music Festival in Wales, UK.

Fresh from Brazil, the Philippine Homeless World Cup team, led by sports legends Coach Rudy Del Rosario and Coach Elmer Bedia, won 8 out of 11 games and brought home the Host Cup. They bonded on the field with Derek Ramsay, Ejay Falcon, Marc Nelson, Dyan Castillejo and Martin Nievera.

The song was written by Jordan Constantino, with music by Lloyd Corpuz, arranged and produced by Eric Perlas. A remixed version by Gab Valenciano will be released by Star Records.

They are the ones who brave crime scenes, areas in conflict, and places devastated by calamities. They sit through hearings, chase personalities for interviews, and analyze documents to make sense out of the issues in the nation. They do all these, day in and day out, to come up with stories that matter to Filipinos.

They are ABS-CBN’s band of journalists who live to tell the stories of the nation, of every Filipino. This Tuesday (Oct 26), they will let us into their world to uncover the interesting and revealing web of stories behind the news reports we see on television on “Patrol ng Pilipino.”

“Patrol ng Pilipino” (PNP) is a weekly 45-minute news documentary program that will give an in-depth look at the biggest stories aired on ABS-CBN newscasts “Umagang Kay Ganda,” “TV Patrol,” and “Bandila.”

Each week, two to three ABS-CBN reporters will revisit their reports to show unaired footage, behind-the-scene videos, extended interviews, and also new information that will reveal the bigger picture of the featured stories.

On the pilot episode of “Patrol Ng Pilipino,” Jorge Cariño will look back on his coverage of Typhoon Juan in Cagayan, where he saw with his own eyes how the province was reduced to ruins, how people there fought to survive, and how the government tried to save both lives and property.

Jeff Canoy will also zoom back to his investigative piece on child miners in Davao Oriental, and reveal more of his interaction with the kids, their families, and the authorities. Canoy will also give a glimpse of raw footage that will unearth the true emotions of the key people in the story.

Because the viewers have the right to know the truth, “Patrol Ng Pilipino” will show all angles of an issue, give face to the data and statistics, and reveal the emotions behind every report. Watch “Patrol ng Pilipino” this Tuesday (Oct 26) after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
