Movie Review: Robert de Niro and Edward Norton’s Stone

Ayala Malls Cinemas (Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma) brings back Robert de Niro and Edward Norton with Milla Jovovich and Frances Conroy in the film entitled “Stone” an American thriller film that will discuss beliefs, relationships, conscience and freedom. The film is directed by John Curran and will be shown on October 27.

The film follows the struggle of Gerald "Stone" Creeson (Norton), an arsonist who wanted to have his parole and Jack Mabrey (De Niro), a correctional officer who handles the case of Stone and will be retiring soon on service. Stone uses his wife, Lucetta (Jovovich) to persuade Mabrey to complete his recommendation for the release of her husband. Aside from Stone, Mabrey is facing a personal conflict about his faith and his wife, Madylyn (Conroy).

The movie might be complicated in terms of the set up, but the conflict is simple, a person who wants his freedom so bad he uses all his resources just to have it. The film is so daring and it is not intended for younger children in both visuals and the use of words. There are two things I like in the movie and that is the irony of each character and the transition from one personality to another. It really gives impact to the story including the use of the “debating” persons in the background where it creates more tension of “silent” pure visual part of the movie.

Stone will be exclusively shown in all Ayala Malls Cinemas (Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma) on October 27.

After The American, Ayala Malls Cinemas (Greenbelt 3, Glorietta 4 and Trinoma) brings another suspense-drama that features Robert De Niro, Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich in a film directed by John Curran entitled Stone. The film will be shown in Ayala Malls Cinema on October.

Stone brings the story of Gerald "Stone" Creeson (Norton) who is an arsonist who uses his wife Lucetta (Jovovich) to seduce Jack Mabrey (De Niro), a parole officer in order to manipulate his release. As Stone working on his way out though his wife, Mabrey is also playing games with the imprisoned arsonist by reviewing Stone’s case which involves the cover up of his grandparents murder with a fire. Mabrey who will be retiring soon faces a riddle on whether to release Stone and enjoys the company of Lucetta, Stone’s sexy and immoral wife where the arsonist weaves the entire plan perfectly to the degree of destroying Mabrey’s relationship with his long-suffering spouse – Madylyn (Frances Conroy).

Catch the return of the four biggest actors and actresses; Robert De Niro, Edward Norton, Milla Jovovich and Frances Conroy on the big screen beginning October 2010 exclusively on Ayala Malls Cinemas (Greenbelt 3, Glorietta 4 and Trinoma).
