Movie Review: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Walt Disney Pictures brings to the big screen an adventure film that every kids and adults loves to play, and what can I say they created a good storyline for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The action-adventure film is now showing in all theaters nationwide starred by Jake Gyllenhaal (Prince Dastan) Gemma Arterton (Princess Tamina), Ben Kingsley (Nizam), and Alfred Molina (Sheik Amar), and directed by Mike Newell.

Sadly the parkour lessons done by Gyllenhaal was not fully highlighted in the film, cannot see his face to convince the movie viewers, I am very skeptic if he was that person or somebody is doing it like a double. But an adventure film like Prince of Persia doesn’t stops on jumping on high walls alone, it’s more of the fight scenes and the proper camera angles and movement and it was perfectly executed.

I like Arterton over Gyllenhaal, the character fits her well, along with simple eye movements and the sarcasm in between the lines makes her role convincing as princess and the guardian of the dagger. The visual effects compliments with the sharp sounds and the fast-phase fight scenes.

Hope Disney Pictures will have a sequel of Prince of Persia like they are doing in Pirates of the Caribbean. Lastly 3D or not, the film is fantastic as long as it’s a dolby sound theater where you can appreciates the crisp and sharpness of the action scenes even the swing of the sword.
