2016 Olympics will be in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!
2016 Olympics will be going to the carnival city of Latin America. After it’s tough battle against Madrid Spain, Tokyo Japan, and Chicago USA, Rio de Janeiro is chosen by the Olympic committee to be the next venue of Summer Olympics on 2016.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil celebrates with her countrymen after winning the vote by 66 to 32 against Madrid. Da Silva strongly states to the International Olympic Committee members “It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country.” And his prayers were answered.
The 2012 Olympics will be held on London where it was voted by the IOC members last 2005 defeating New York. While Japan after banking $ 4 Billion for the Olympic Game and reaches the 2nd round of the bidding was handicapped by the fact that 2008 Olympics was held in China which was located in Asia same continent as Japan. While Chicago never reaches the finals as President Barack Obama’s charms didn’t work for the IOC members.
As of now, Africa and Antartica where the only continents that haven’t been awarded with Olympics.
