Check out the "The Dangers Beneath" exhibit on Nov 15-17 at the Glorietta 5

Each year, fishermen find millions of bottle caps, plastic caps, cigarette butts and assorted plastics within the stomachs of marine animals. But sea creatures are not the only ones who derive life from these waters – people also depend on marine resources for their health, food and protection. Over 450 million people worldwide live within 60 kilometers of coral reefs and derive food and income from the sea. Forty million Filipinos depend on seafood as a primary source of protein.

From November 15 to 17, take a closer look at some of the trash collected in Philippine seas in an art installation encased in a large aquarium at the Glorietta 5 Activity Center in Makati. The art installation, a shark, has been created from everyday human garbage. This exhibit dubbed ‘The Dangers Beneath’ aims to generate awareness to the public and the consumers that the biggest threat to our marine species is actually created with our own hands.

Everything you discard contributes to environmental pollution. Irresponsible disposal also releases harmful toxins into our oceans, causing serious harm to all marine life forms. With your staunch support, you will enable WWF to generate more awareness about these threats and help them engage corporations and individuals like you to shift to a more sustainable lifestyle. Live Curious with National Geographic Channel

Last October 3, National Geographic Channel (NGC) officially launches the “Live Curious” campaign to encourage everyone to continue the spirit of curiosity and sking question to gain more learning. In line with the said campaign NGC launches its “Live Curious” ambassadors like filmmaker and writer Joey Reyes, marketing executive Francis Flores, TV host/producer and advocate for children Daphne Oseña-Paez, advertising executive Norman Agatep, Rock Ed Philippines Founder Gang Badoy, science writer and The Mind Museum curator Maribel Garcia, WWF-Philippines CEO Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan, educational media producer Mitzi Borromeo, and social ecopreneur Bryan Benitez McClelland.

The “Live Curious” Ambassadors participated in the photo exhibit where they share their views and ambitions in life. The exhibit was made possible by fashion and conceptual photographer Niccolo Cosme, the Makeup Forum, the Ayala Malls and The Mind Museum, the “Live Curious” photo exhibit will also be on display at Glorietta 4 (October 7-10), Trinoma Mall (October 21-24), and Ayala Center Cebu (November 4-7), Bonifacio High Street (November 13-14). Here are some of the photos that you will see on the exhibit:

“This Live Curious photo exhibit is not just a collection of the curiosities of our local ambassadors, it also represents the myriad of curiosities that millions of ordinary Filipinos have” said Jude Turcuato, FOX International Channels Territory Director. The “Live Curious” t-shirt worn by the ambassadors will be available soon on selected apparel stores and on the NGC website.
