Chicharong Bulaklak (Deep fried pork intestine) P168 – This is one of the appetizers served in Recipes. The pork intestine is deeply fried to bring out the crunchiness with a salty taste that compliments with spicy vinegar sauce.
Chicken Sotanghon P210 – This one of my usual comfort food, but it was made more special because of different mushrooms in it like shitake and button mushrooms to compliment with beans, carrots and chicken breast strips.
Gising Gising P165. A famous Kapampangan dishes that is a chopped bean strings sautéed in coconut milk with ground pork and spices. This kind of side dish is perfect for diners who wanted to partner their fried meals or slightly sauced dishes with something spicy.
General’s Chicken P210. A poultry dish cooked on a sweet spicy sauce, almost similar to adobo but this one is more extreme in terms of sweetness with a blend of spicy kick.
General’s Tofu P170. Same with General’s Chicken, but it is more for the vegetarian or health conscious diners. I like the tenderness of the tofu covered with sweet chili sauce and it is perfect on steamy rice.
Crispy Tilapia P210. - Deep fried Tilapia that is crunchy outside but it retains the tender meat inside. Accompanied with spicy vinegar and soy sauce to bring out the distinctive sweetness and taste of Tilapia.
Crispy Beef Tadyang P248 – This dish reminds of crispy pata but this time it is beef ribs deep fried accompanied with spicy vinegar sauce. The meat doesn’t stick with the bones so diners can enjoy it.
Bangus Fillet Steak P190 – Another dish perfect for non red meat eaters but still wanted to enjoy the beef steak taste along with the caramelized onion that is very Filipino.
Korean BBQ Short Ribs P175 – Enjoy the sweetness of marinated beef meat, grilled and cut into strips and accompanied with sautéed bean sprouts.
Beef Kare Kare P338 – Another well loved Filipino dish. Recipes version of Kare Kare is rich with vegetables like pechay, cabbage, banana blossoms, and eggplant. With tender beef meat on a creamy peanut sauce with spicy shrimp paste as dip.
Lechong Kawali with Kangkong P210 – Deep fried pork chopped pork meat with boiled kangkong leaves on a special sauce.
Most of the dishes served in Recipes by Metro Café are good for two to three persons per order. Each meal is surprisingly affordable even though the atmosphere of the restaurant looks expensive. Among the dishes served General Tofu, Lechong Kawali with Kangkong, Crispy Tilapia, Crispy Beef Tadyang and Gising Gising are my personal favorite.
