Walt Disney’s I am Number Four

In line with the official launch of I am Number Four in cinemas starting today (February 23), it will be also available on IMAX for more superb viewing experience especially it falls on sci-fi action movie category. This science fiction teen movie that was based from the 2010 novel of Pittacus Lore with the same title was directed by D. J. Caruso and starring Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand, and Callan McAuliffe.

I am Number Four follows the character played by Alex Pettyfer who hides in different identity in order to save himself from the Mogadorians. Mogadorians are the aliens who tried to kill all the Lorians, where Alex is one of them. In order to stop the enemy he needs to develop his skills and power and unite with the rest of his fellow survivors.

The movie reminds me of the film Eragon which it’s about a kid destined to save his tribe but at first he was clueless about it, and it happens all the time in other heroine theme movies. Sadly, regarding the storyline the establishing of the character and the plot was not that strong. For a movie that is a science fiction and that has so many twists and turns it needs a clear explanation which at first was not clear, you need to watch it until the middle part to understand the flow of the story.

But for those who are into visual effects and action, I am Number Four is a kind of movie to watch this month. Especially that into alien-hero like of action, with glowing hands, enormous dog, and aliens with tattoo head and gills beside their nose. I like the effects of lights coming from the hands and mixed it with action fast to slow motion effect which to be honest it reminds me of the neon lights in Tron that was beautiful on IMAX and 3D.

This was the first time I saw Alex Pettyfer, he did a convincing role about being clueless and an alien who has power, and it was great to see Dianna Agron on the big screen having a big break aside from Glee and maybe she can do more someday.
