The Correspondents break down local political dynasties

What is the reason behind the rampant political dynasty in the Philippines?

Join Ricky Carandang as he takes a glimpse on the powerful Jalosjos clan in Zamboanga del Norte this Tuesday (Jan 26) on “The Correspondents” on ABS-CBN.

For the past nine years, Zamboanga del Norte was ruled by a congressman and mayor from the Jalosjos family. This is the clan of Romeo Jalosjos Sr, the former congressman who was convicted of child rape in 2002 and was given parole by President Arroyo last year.

However, even after nearly a decade of rule, the Jalosjos leaders have failed to lift the province from being the second most impoverish province in the country according to the latest data in 2006. Yet, the family is even bent on taking over nearby Zamboanga Sibugay.

Karen Davila and Abner Mercado will also bring the stories behind their documentaries to San Sebastian College for the 8th leg of “The Correspondents DOCUniversity Tour” this Wednesday (Jan 27). Meanwhile, join Ricky Carandang as he unveils the true nature of political dynasties this Tuesday (Jan 26) on “The Correspondents,” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
