60 Earth Hour

Did you share a minute of your life already?

As taking my part to the WWF project called the 60 Eath Hour, Angsawariko supports the said campaign by means of sharing the information to readers and encouraging you guys to join the campaign by means of signing up and share your views to your own blog and group sites. And second by joining the world wide lights off campaign that will takes place on March 29, 2008 from 8pm to 9pm. With Pinoy Bloggers; Ambo of PinoyAmbisyoso.com and Iris of NapTimeRocks.com, I am Flowell of Angsawariko.blogspot.com supports 60 Earth Hour campaign or WWF-International.

What is 60 Earth Hour is all about?

As stated in Earthhour.org:

"Turning the lights off for Earth Hour is a great first step, but if you really want to see a difference, then make Earth Hour part of your everyday life.

Simple things like turning off appliances while not in use and switching your light globes to energy efficient bulbs, will all help us reach our goal of reducing our annual emissions by 5%. Even something as simple as turning out lights when you’re not in a room and switching to cleaner sources of electricity like “green power”, make a big difference."

The project started in Sydney Australia last march 7, 2007 where 2100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour. If the greenhouse reduction achieved in the Sydney CBD during Earth Hour was sustained for a year, it would be equivalent to taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year.

While here in the Philippines, Mayor Peewee Trinidad of Pasay City joins the world in giving the earth our Pinoy love and care. He agreed to turned off the lights along the areas of Roxas Boulevard for 60 minutes or 1 hour on March 29 to show support to the Earth Hour campaign of WWF and hopefully will encourage other cities in the country to take part. And the brightest message in this pitch black campaign is to make men and women realize that we should take things easy in using earth's resources and our fight against global warming.

Angsawariko supports 60 Earth Hour and invites YOU Bloggers to TAKE PART!

We'll definitely support!!! I hope every city does. Can anyone in the media announce the World Earth Hour? Even the President supporting/announcing this event is a big help.

There is little energy use difference between colours on flat screens, whilst CRTs do reduce emissions by displaying dark colours.

So why would Google do this and revert their entire presentation to a black background?

To send a message and create awareness.

But Earth Hour is a one off - a small step in the right direction, but a one off nonetheless.

So how can you keep making small changes for the better - use a real green search engine, that's how:

http://searchgreener.com is a green search engine, using the quality of Google and a dark screen (it always has). And if the dark screen doesn't save emissions then it does use ALL money made to buy carbonoffsets - so searchgreener offsets the energy use.

Build searchgreener.com into your daily searching routine online and you have small but positive action fighting climate change - not a one-off but something you can use everyday.
