Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps follows the return of Gordon Gekko in the “game” where he was imprisoned for 23 years because of the financial crime he committed. In his return he sees the economic downfall of US where he forecasted before he was put to jail. Without anything in his pocket and life where his wife abandoned him and took his daughter away from him, he struggles to bring back the power and fame he had before and there he met Jacob (LaBeouf), the fiancé of Winnie (Mulligan) his daughter. He uses Jacob to regain his relationship with his daughter in exchange that he will help Jacob who is facing the dilemma of economic crisis where he is a young Wall Street Trader and his quest to solve the death of his mentor which he believes that his hedge fund manager is part of it. Like Gekko will Jacob be like him and accepts the call of greed and power and turns his back against his fiancé?
Honestly, I am excited with the sequel of Wall Street, which I saw the 1987 film others might find it boring because of its business set up and more of the talking rather than action. Wall Street is a film where it help it viewers see how can money and power can actually turns a person from a “lamb” to a ruthless shark and that’s the good thing in the movie it shows the transition of a character to another level of his/her role/personality. Seeing the trailers online it excites me same thing that the producers didn’t replace Douglas with new artist, instead they let him continue his role and having Stone as director where he can continue the legacy of what he did 23 years ago.
Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps will be shown in all cinemas nationwide beginning Sept. 29 and distributed by 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros Pictures.
