Theater Down South brings another Cinderella story with an oriental touch beginning August 22, 3 p.m. at the Insular Life Theater, Insular Life Corporate Center Filinvest Corporate City, Muntinlupa. The musical play is entitled The Princess and the Red Carp with features veteran and rookie stage performers like Kahna Cortez-Velasco (Yeh Hsien), Celine Fabie (Stepmother), Zig Hagamann (Young Emperor), Joonee Garcia (Stepsister), Marie Delgado (Stepsister) Mikey Llorin (Prime Minister), Chino Veguillas ( The Red Carp ) and the TDS Company. The stage performance is directed by veteran stage director and the creative and artistic director of TDS Michael Williams.
The Princess and the Red Carp follows the story of Yeh Shien in search for love with the help of the red carp who provides her jewelry, clothes and the golden sleepers until her step mother eats the poor carp. The story is originally created and scored by Williams and Joonee Garcia.
Aside from the Princess and the Red Carp, TDS will also stage performances like A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
