From the 58 massacred 32 were media men which according to Inday Espina-Varona of NUJP that as of 1986 there are 137 journalists killed and 100 of it is during the Arroyo administration (since 2001) including the Maguindanao Massacre.
Press Secretary Crispulo Icban Jr. along with the Malacanang Press Corps shows supports on the activity done by NUJP and fellow media men and advocates in commemoration of the 5th month of Maguindanao Massacre. Icban assures that they will be helping in seeking justice for the families of those who where killed and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be supporting them on their plight. He firmly says that the families of the victims must not lose hope in their quest for justice.

Aside from the protest and candle light activity done in Manila, there are same activity done in NUJP chapters in Baguio, Bulacan, Pampanga, Lucena, Bohol, Bacolod, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Kidapawan, Iloilo and Bukidnon.
