Focaccia Italian Restaurant – a Slice of Italy

Filipinos are natural food lovers and we always wanted to try different cuisine, this time I want to try Italian dishes like pizza and pasta to satisfy my cravings that is why I enjoyed Focaccia Italian Restaurant in Food Strip in the Katipunan Circle cor. 7th Ave., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City which also has another branch in the Ground Floor, A.Venue Mall, Makati Avenue, Makati City. Focaccia Italian Restaurant is owned by RG Gamboa and the menu was created by Chef Ivan Tajonera. The restaurant’s name is based from the Focaccia bread, a flat oven-baked Italian bread usually used pizza and they are serving it as complimentary starter for their visitors.

Here are some of Focaccia's specialty and must try, and checking their menu, all I can say they serve big in a very affordable price.

 (Spinach Artichoke Formaggio)

Soup Trio - Tomato and Basil, Pumpkin and Mushroom soup in small cup with focaccia bread. P150. It gives the diners the chance to enjoy all the soup that Focaccia is serving in a minimal cost and enjoyable in a tea cup presentation.

(Frutti de Mare - conchiglia or seashell pasta in pomcheese sause with salmon, shrimp, squid, and mussel. P260 - solo and P360 -famiglia/family)

(Penne ala Sicilliana - Penne in chili flavored tomato sauce with spicy Italian sausages. P220 - solo, P340 -famiglia)

(Prosciutto tartufo - pasta in cream sauce with prosciutto and sliced mushroom. P350 - solo, P460 - famiglia)

(Cannelloni con Ragu - cannelloni shells baked in bachamel sauce and filled with beef and spinach. P380 good to 3-4 persons)

(Lasagna con Ragu - Over baked lasagna that is rich in meaty sauce. P280 good for 3-4 persons)

(Osso Bocco - tender beff shanks braised in red wine and tomato sauce topped with gremolata served with fettuccini noodles. P380 - good for 2 persons)

(Scallopine alla Marsala - pounded beef tenderloin braised in marsala wine served with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, carrots and on angel hair pasta. P380 - good for 2 persons)

Three pasta caught my attention and there are; Frutti de Mare, Scallopine alla Marsala and Penne ala Sicilliana. I always look for a unique taste that will compliment to my cravings, I like seafoods, spicy and a mixture of ingredients that will compliment to the meal. Fruitti de Mare is a seafood pasta that I enjoyed the mouthful more that bite size shrimps, squids and tuna. I love Frankfurt and Italian sausages that are spicy and has a unique taste that compliments to the rice or pasta I am eating, that the thing I love with Penne ala Sicilliana. And lastly, Scallopine alla Marsala gives me a reason that I can enjoy the tenderness of pounded beef tenderloin and the crisp vegetables and partnered it with pasta aside from the usual rice.

(Slice of Italy Pizza - thin crust pizza, diagonally sliced and topped with ham, bacon, salami, button mushroom, caramelized onion and cheese sauce, served with alfalfa and lettuce. P280-solo, P380 - famiglia)

This is how the pizza of Focaccia should be done, it is called crazy pizza rolls which is their specialty. The greens compliments with the taste of the thin crust pizza and it is best in the seafood pizza that neutralizes the taste of seafood making it more tasty.

One thing I like with Focaccia aside from the good food they served from pasta, pizza, panini and gelato is that all the dishes they served is big in servings and its affordable. I hope that can open in other areas so that budget conscious individuals can enjoy their dishes in a very affordable prices.
